WHAT IS A HEALTHY BLADDER?

WHAT IS A HEALTHY BLADDER?

Firstly, let's quickly clarify what the bladder is.

The bladder is an organ that is a temporary reservoir that holds urine. When you go to the toilet, your bladder outlet muscles (e.g. pelvic floor and urethral sphincter) relax and your bladder contracts which leads to wee-ing.

WHAT DOES A HEALTHY BLADDER LOOK LIKE?

Here are some signs of what a healthy bladder looks like:

- Empty your bladder around 8 times per day.
- Whilst sleeping, you may wake up maximum twice during the night to use the bathroom.
- The bladder will tell you it is full but gives you enough time to find a bathroom.
- You can completely empty your bladder when you go to the toilet.
- You don't experience any leaks.
